  • Hammersmith and Fulham has the 16th highest proportion of Job Seeker Allowance in the country
  • The local unemployment rate in Hammersmith and Fulham (measured as Jobseekers allowance recipients as percentage of working age population) was 2.8 in April 2007.  This figure is slightly below the London rate but higher than the national rate.  2011 census statistics tbc.
  • There are significant differences in the unemployment rates between wards. Wormholt and White City has an unemployment rate more than four times the rate in Palace riverside
  • Long-term unemployment (measured as the proportion of unemployed residents claiming Jobseekers allowance for more than six months) was 43% in April 2007, slightly above the London rate. Ten wards have a higher long-term unemployment rate than the London rate
